With New Eyes

Imagine that you were able to turn back the clock on Christmas and see it again for the first time, not as an infant but as a full grown adult. How exciting it would be. That is exactly what is happening this year with Karim. All of this Christmas whingding that we have become accustomed to year after year, and which is not as exciting to us as it was when we were kids, is completely new and (pardon the term) "foreign" to him. He is entranced by the lights that people have put out on their lawns already and always mentions the presence of Santa (real or otherwise). I feel as though I am describing a child, but, Karim has been an adult for a while now. This morning I was forced to download "Alvin and the Chipmunks' Christmas Song" into the computer. He said he doesn't quite understand the words, but he likes the song all the same. Wait till I make him an eggnog.
