Who ARE These People Anyway?
I'm not here to offend anyone. It is not my job on this earth to pass judgment on any one person or race, or color or creed or religion, or whatever. Yet, I am judged by the method with which I choose to worship. Islam is not a religion of hatred or violence, and those who say that it IS are simply ignorant, lazy people. (Okay, so I DO pass a LITTLE judgment). Instead of looking into and studying Islam and getting to really know Muslims, they spout "facts" about Islam of which they know nothing. I'm sick to death of it. I was a Christian for over thirty years, and I have chosen Islam as my religion because I love it. Not because people say it is a violent religion bent on anti-feminist ideals, which simply aren't true, but because I love God, and I believe in it. I don't go about in my life criticizing Christianity. I still read my bible, and if these so-called "intellectual" bigots would read their Qu'ran they would see that we are supposed to abide by the rules set down in both the Bible and the Torah as well as Qu'ran.
It is He (Allah) who sent down to thee step by step, in truth, the book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the law (of Moses) and the gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong). Aal-E-Imran 3
I am aware that my words will never change those who think they are correct. The only thing that can change ignorance is education. America needs to be educated about other cultures. Therein lies the problem. We are a fearful people. We fear what we don't understand and we refuse to learn what must be learned to eradicate the fear. We sit on our happy little sofas watching the media bash Islam and we do nothing to make our Muslim neighbors feel better. Instead, we believe everything we see on TV and read in the newspaper without question, and then we shun or ridicule or hurt what we do not wish to understand better. We have become a nation of shame and dishonor. We will allow pedophiles and murderers to live peacefully among us, but heaven forbid a Muslim move in to the neighborhood.
I urge anyone who reads this to study Islam just that much harder. But study it with an open and unbiased mind. You will find that Islam does NOT urge killing without a justified cause. The terrorism being inflicted upon the world does not have a justified cause, regardless of the so-called reasoning the militants give. A study would reveal that Allah allows fighting as a form of defense against those who would take Islam away, just as He has allowed warriors to fight for the cause of Christ. Terror is not defense of Islam. It is bullying in its extreme form, and as a Muslim, I denounce the bombings and killing of innocent people the world over. Anyone who puts explosives on at the same time he pulls up his shorts with the intention of destruction, whatever cause he may claim, is insane. This is not Islam.
