We're Movin' On Up!

We got the approval for our apartment, (as if we wouldn't...) and will hopefully be in it completely by the fifteenth. It's only a week and a half away, but, it would be easier on ME if it were tomorrow. However, we have to get the lights and phone and all the other expenses turned on. We also must buy a little furniture for a start, as we don't really relish the idea of sleeping on the floor.
I have been somewhat presumptuous about the whole thing, and have gone ahead this week during my off time and played with the "word" program, creating the interior design of our apartment based on the floor plan we were given in the brochure. It will take a few months to fulfill all of these plans. We will have to purchase our furniture one piece at a time, one paycheck at a time, but this way, it gives us room to think instead of act impulsively. This is a good lesson in patience for the "Impatient One", (me), and as I tend to be a tad spendthriftish on occasion, I am sure that my patience will, indeed, be tried.
The planning of the apartment design has been very joyful for me, as it has given me an outlet for not only my creativity, but also for my impatient frustration in waiting for an answer. I wouldn't have been upset about not getting this apartment so much because there are plenty out there, but this one in particular is nice and in a nice area. I think that perhaps my creative visualization (along with lots of prayer) has helped a bit in securing this place. I lean toward pessimism on any given day, so the optimistic attitude was not only a welcome change, but also a step in the right direction.
So, after seven months of sheer torture, living in a motel right off the freeway, with pimps and prostitutes, junkies and pushers, we are finally getting our chance to breathe free in our own place, away from the visible evil; where we can come at the end of a long work day (or in Karim's case, work night) to relax amongst our own positive energy. We can "go home" from the store, "come home" from work, "be home" on our days off, and "feel at home" whenever we are there. We are, at last, coming to the America that I promised my husband once, it seems, a very long time ago.
