The View from My Window

It's so peaceful here. Finally. We have worked very hard for this teeny-weeny slice of tranquility, and we deserve it. I sat on our sofa today and when I got sleepy, I took a nap. Sleepiness seems to be a normal thing in this little apartment, which is a good thing after the chaos of our last "residence". Last week, I had come to move a few things in before I went to work. There was a storm, as there has been every day for almost two weeks now. I adore a good thunderstorm, and as I had time to spare, I opened the sliding door, sat on the sofa, and watched the rain come down, listening to and counting the thunder...*boom...one, two, three....* There was nothing else in that moment. Only peace. As the storm subsided, the drops of rain pattered quietly into a puddle that had formed just outside of the patio, under the fence, and I thought of all the time and energy I have spent searching diligently for this one moment, and when I wasn't looking, it found me.

It is Allah who made your habitations homes of rest and quiet for you...An-Nahl 80

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake. Psalm 23:1-3

How wonderful to be home.
