Ready, Set...

We are going to be looking at an apartment tomorrow, and I think we will like it. The complex is clean and the pool is immaculate, which was our first impression, and I have the feeling that the apartment will be just as nice. It is a newer place, and is gated so we will feel much more secure. I can't help but feel impatient as I sit in this motel room watching the prostitute across the parking lot stand outside trying to "hook" a trick. It is inevitable that she will. Such is the state of the world.
I am more than ready to make my own "mark" in my own home. I cannot do anything in this closet of a room except move the chairs from one place to another. The curtains and bedding do not match either the wallpaper or the putrid dollar store prints that hang on it, and the carpet is a color that hasn't yet been discovered on earth. I have gone to pains today at work to reserve a set of bedding and a shower curtain with matching hooks, to insure our success in obtaining our independence. Since we moved across continents, we do not own a stick of furniture...well, let me take that back. We do have a set of shelves that we bought at the Value Village for four dollars that houses our coffee pot and grill, along with our scant food storage and dishes. That is the extent of our furniture. We are, however, planning to buy a queen bed set (from a discount furniture store, most likely), as soon as we get our apartment, as we must have a place to sleep. I suppose it would have been more fitting to get a furnished apartment, but the one furnished place we found requires a long lease, and the complex itself looked pretty questionable.
As I sit here watching Home and Garden Television, I itch to start making a home. I was never able to do much decorating and housewifery in Alexandria as things are just so expensive there. However, I know that it will not be difficult nor expensive to furnish and decorate here. I am a rabid yard sale/flea market/thrift store shopper, (thanks to my beloved grandmother) and have great plans for every space. Working in a discount bed and bath store doesn't hurt either. I am trying to watch as much HGTV and TLC as possible before we move because we don't have a television yet.
It has been difficult for me to actually "think"/meditate on things because my brain is so muddled with the whole motel vs. apartment issue, but I know that everything will turn out well in the end. Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Matthew 6:26

Verily thy Lord doth provide sustenance in abundance for whom He pleaseth, and He provideth in a just measure. For He doth know and regard all His servants. Al-Israa 30
