The Jury Has Reached...an Alternative State of Consciousness

Well, there you have it folks. Another celebrity cuckoo is free to practice his sordid lifestyle with the consent of the American government. It seems to me that a majority of the American public was NOT cheering for "Jack-O", (BTW, I fear that there are various ways one can extend the nickname 'Jack-O' to actually fit the situation). One would think that if we thought he was ACTUALLY innocent, there would have been more than a hundred vapid fans standing outside the courthouse loosing pigeons for each "not guilty" verdict. Was it just me or was the voice of the woman reading the verdict eerily similar to that of Mikey's own voice? Kinda makes ya wonder, doesn't it?
Karim and I sat discussing the thing shortly after the verdict was passed down to us, that had we been jurors in this situation, would we have accepted a great sum of cash in return for a Stay Out of Jail Free card? Karim's answer was an unequivocal "Hell, yes!" I, on the other hand wasn't quite sure what I would do, thinking about those spiritual ramifications. If I didn't accept the bribe, I would most certainly be replaced by one who would. That was Karim's point. Take the money, as the decision is going to be the same either way. But, I would like to think that I would do the "right" thing and refuse the "offer I can't refuse". I wouldn't WANT to be guilty of allowing a man to go free that in my opinion shouldn't be allowed to look at pictures of Disneyland, let alone be having overnight slumber parties with children who's parents don't have the sense they were born with to allow their children to stay with him after the FIRST trial over the same issue. Duh.
Here's the question. Is there justice for celebrities, or can money buy freedom? Any takers?
