Life is strange and quiet with Karim's father living with us. Ahmed & Angele were separated as Angele wanted to make family w/her boys again but didn't want Ahmed. So, life here was quiet w/Abohemad (Ahmed) going back and forth to work. he and Karim do their talking amongst themselves & I rarely know what's going on w/Ahmed unless I ask Karim.
So, today, it came as a quiet shock when Abohemad came home and was here for awhile when Karim told me "He divorced Angele today." How quietly it occurred, and such a strange culture. I know he must be suffering inside, but there's sadness w/o tears & all seems to go on as usual.
Karim is sad about his family because they don't seem to care about him at all. It's all for *---...downstairs & they won't acknowledge his needs. *---runs that household and I think Mr. A--is fed up--doesn't want to deal w/anything--so he lets her do whatever at the expense of Karim and his feelings.
I'm sad about my father's bigotry--knowing I probably will never again exchange a civil word with him because I "ran off & married some A-rab".
So, we are a rather depressed household. Seems we don't have a lot of luck.
