What's in YOUR Stocking?

As Americans we all know the fable that if we are good little children all year, we will receive lots of really nice "goodies" in our stockings, but if we are very bad little children, we will receive sticks or rocks in our socks.
Let's look at that from an adult point of view. What do we, as adults, consider "good" and "bad"? What would we get in our stockings at Christmastime from Santa if the fable were true? As adults, we are required by spiritual law to be examples to our children, and not only to OUR children, but other's as well. It doesn't hurt to set the standard for other adults, either. If we were to reflect on all that we have done throughout the year, good and bad, which one would hang heaviest in the toe of that stocking? Did we remember the less fortunate, or did we criticize the homeless? Did we tell our boss the truth or did we lace it with fiction? Did we utter unnecessary judgments on people that we had no right to judge? The questions are neverending, but the same truth holds. If our good deeds are more numerous, then we deserve to be lauded at the end of the year. However, if our bad deeds outnumber by a margin, we shouldn't expect to see praise any time soon.
Don't forget, that even if Santa is a nice "myth", and isn't really keeping a list to see if we are naughty or nice, other people, especially the children, are watching intently.
